St Vincent de Paul Society of Elgin
Reaching our goal of $10,000 will allow us to help Elgin residents in temporary financial need with assistance with utilities, housing, transportation, and medicine.
The Society of St. Vincent de Paul conferences of St. Thomas More/St. Laurence and St. Mary's parishes serve the community of Elgin, IL. The Society is a Catholic lay organization and part of an international society whose mission is to provide service to all who are in need or are suffering. We provide help through person-to-person contact. We meet with our Friends in Need where they live and provide prayer and material support. It is this personalized involvement that makes the work of the Society unique. This aid may take the form of intervention, consultation, or often through direct dollar or in-kind service. The Society recognizes that it must assume, also, a role of advocacy for those who are defenseless or voiceless. No work of charity is foreign to the Society. We help Friends in Need regardless of religion, ethnic or social background, health, gender, or political opinions. We provide financial assistance to individuals in emergency situations: utilities, housing, medication, and transportation, etc.
Due to the ongoing pandemic, the need for help in our community is more pressing. In the past year our conferences were able to help, through donations like yours, over 1500 households living our community. Members of the Society give their time and talents voluntarily; 100% of your donation goes to help people in need in our community.
